Community Acupuncture Clinic
Serving the Greater Brunswick, Maine Area
Alicia Yip and Toby Sifton started offering a weekly community acupuncture clinic because they wanted more folks in the area to be able to get regular affordable care.
Acupuncture is a gracefully simple, gentle, tried and true, organized system of health care. There is almost always an approach an acupuncturist can take to help manage a health problem or fine tune the body to help it function more fully. In the community clinic, we benefit from the power of numbers and the dynamics possible in a healthy group setting. Like group prayer or a yoga class--we tap into something greater because we experience it together... What it looks like: You walk into a small waiting room with a sign in/ fill out a consent if you are new with us. This is where you can leave your fee for treatment; sliding scale of $20-40 in the donation box. ($40 is about one third of a private session with practitioner.) Cash or checks please. Please leave your shoes, come in and make yourself comfortable in any available chair. We like to keep the environment pretty quiet so one can dive deeply into the experience. One of us will come chat with you a bit and then treat you by gently placing needles on your arms and legs. You can rest or sleep for 10-30 minutes - and catch our eye if you would like us to come over sooner for any reason. When you are 'needle free' you can rest for a bit or take your leave. Sensations always include a greater relaxation. Other normal feelings one can observe as they move through are: feeling lightness or heaviness, maybe a dull ache, tingling, warmth, or waves, perhaps a small pinch or an occasional zinger. One of the opportunities of acupuncture is to be still enough to cultivate a relaxed focus on the breath as you sense and learn about your system.
